Light Box Study

Exploring the element of light through spatial elements.

Looking deeply at the interaction between light and shadow,

and the effects of artificial light vs natural light.

Creating a corridor of different wood elements, shaped using parametric design scripting, I played with variables of lighting. I created a script to cut a grid of varying holes based on the heat transfer from the sun. This then displayed a creative structure of light.

Natural Light:

The first wing of the corridor was focused on strictly natural light. Using a perforated façade panel and a organically shaped wall as its main features, it allows light to pass through positive areas and the negatives project shadows.

Artificial Light:

The second wing was focused on strictly artificial light. Featuring reflective parametric figures to highlight the artificial. As the sun goes down and the first wing hides in darkness, the second wing exposes its true kindness.
